DELEGATES MEETING

76th Annual Midwest Deaf Golfers Association
Delegates Meeting Minutes
Sunday, July 30, 2023

MDGA Delegates meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by President Willie Miller.

The following were present:

President: Willie Miller

Secretary: Bob Dramin

Treasurer: Mark Venz

Trustee: Dale Saline

Past Presidents: Darrell Hovinen and James Potter

Illinois: Bryan Jendra and Charles Peckham

Indiana: Charles Macintosh and Thomas Perkins

Iowa: Clayton Clairborne

Kansas: George McCarley and Andrew Stone

Michigan: Willy Dobos and Karl Gruetzner

Minnesota: Alan Kayser and James Potter

Missouri:  Bob Lister and Bill Roberts

Wisconsin: John Dyreson and Roy Siskind

President Miller began the meeting by explaining that the officers (President, Vice-president, secretary, and treasurer) convened via Sorenson's group call on July 25, 2023.

  1. We discussed the affiliate fees and agreed that if the state sends $260 after the deadline, which will be on July 1 this year (2023), the state will pay a $25 late fee. That means the state must pay $285 to MDGA if it pasts the deadline.
  1. We discussed State scramble teams and agreed they would not pay late fees if golfers submitted the names and money past the deadline.
  1. We discussed future MDGA tournaments. We expect to see the prices go higher for entry fees. Due to the economy, the greens fees, luncheon, banquet, etc., costs might increase. The future entry fees could be up to around $325. MDGA is still cheaper than SEDGA, SWDGA, and FWGAD.
  1. We discussed 501c3 and EIN. President Miller received advice from Mark Sorokinp, the Deaf lawyer, about legal work that could cost MDGA about $500. MDGA needs 501c3 and EIN to protect MDGA and the officers. In addition, we agreed that we use the state of Iowa as a permanent for filing the income tax. We agreed to start work on this soon.
  1. We discussed MDGA's new website.
  1. We agreed to revise the MDGA Guidelines regarding fundraising to earn a minimum from $4000 to $2500. MDGA Guidelines need some updates.
